Its a beautiful day in Miami again, sunshine, inviting beaches and warm water makes is perfect..

Memorial day weekend is a beginning indication that summer is here. It is important to continue a healthy lifestyle with periodic body detoxification and cleansing. The practice of once a week juice or fruit cleansing may be an aided benefit to achieve this.

We detox/cleanse for health, vitality, and rejuvenation – clear symptoms, feel energize and prevent future problems… Cleansing makes us feel more creative, motivated, productive and open to emotional and spiritual energies.

I have used one of the cleansing/fasting ways to detoxify my body by eating only watermelon on mondays or tuesdays especially after a long weekend of partying..

The benefits of only watermelon diet for a day: 

Watermelon is a delicious and refreshing fruit. It contains natural sugar that helps to satisfy sugar cravings during fasting.It is high in vitamin C and vitamin A.

Drinking water is an important way to keep your body hydrated. However, eating foods that have a high water content can also help. Interestingly, watermelon is 92% water. Watermelon is one of the lowest in calories — only 46 calories per cup.  Watermelon has  other nutrients as well, including these vitamins and minerals: Potassium, Magnesium: , Vitamins B1, B5 and B6.

Based on the study of watrmelon benefits some compounds including cucurbitacin E and lycopene in watermelon have been known for their potential  benefits to prevent cancer. Lycopene and vitamin C are anti-inflammatory antioxidants. Inflammation is linked to many chronic diseases.

Watermelon also contains citrulline, an amino acid that may increase nitric oxide levels in the body. Nitric oxide helps your blood vessels expand, which lowers blood pressure.

Watermelon juice has some potential as a recovery beverage after exercise. Citrulline may be partially responsible for its effect of easing muscle soreness. Vitamin C helps your body make collagen, a protein that keeps your skin supple and your hair strong. Vitamin A is also important for healthy skin since it helps create and repair skin cells. Without enough vitamin A, your skin can look dry and flaky.Fiber and water are important for healthy digestion. Watermelon contains both.

In my opinion eating watermelon only throughout a day is a wonderful and easy way to fast and wash out the toxins of the weekend.
